Troubleshooting Tips

Experiencing issues streaming live video content on your devices at home?
Below are a few tips to consider when troubleshooting streaming challenges on your phone, tablet, laptop or computer.

Refresh or restart everything.

If your video keeps freezing or the quality of the stream is extremely low, try refreshing the web browser or opening the website in a new browser service altogether. If the issue persists, restart your internet modem, router, and/or streaming device by turning it off and on again. Sometimes a simple restart does the trick!

Adjust the video quality.

Our video player gives you the option to adjust the latency quality of your video stream. Sometimes the video quality setting may be too high for your internet connection. Lowering the video quality will improve the connection to the stream. To do this, click the gear icon in the lower right corner of the video player. Select “VIDEO QUALITY” and pick either “480p” or “360p”.

Check your internet speed.

Live streaming requires fast, uninterrupted internet service. Download speeds of at least 15 MBPs are recommended when streaming online video content. To ensure your internet capacity is running at full speed, make sure that you turn off other devices in your home, especially those that are not currently in need of a Wi-Fi connection.

Run a few connection tests.

If you’re experiencing streaming issues across the board, consider running a few connection speed tests. You can check the connection speed of your Wi-Fi router and your streaming devices or computer modems. To run a speed test, Google “SPEED TEST” and click the blue box that says “RUN SPEED TEST” to determine your connection speed. If the results are lower than what your service provider should be honoring, then you may want to reach out to your Wi-Fi service provider for support.

Consider other devices.

If you’re continuing to have issues streaming live video content, consider leveraging alternative internet connections. Families may find success in streaming content using the data provided by their mobile phone plan. Some carriers provide tethering services, in which the data provided by a phone plan can be tethered to tablets, laptops, and computers for internet use. Please note: This option is only recommended for individuals with unlimited data plans.
