The Groove is hiring a part-time, Chicago-based Marketing & Product Assistant with interest and experience in youth development, social-media, startups and marketing.  You should be available at least 15 hours per week between January - June.

Founded by the team at Prismatic and Design Dance, The Groove is a brand new monthly educational program that makes it easy for families affected by disability to practice social and emotional skills together. Our team has been working in Chicago Public Schools for over 10 years, bringing innovative educational experiences involving arts, entrepreneurship and mindfulness to children ages 2-18. As our programs continue to grow, we’re seeking a motivated Marketing & Product Assistant to work alongside our small, hard-working and super-dedicated team to expand visibility of The Groove while maximizing the potential of our current programs at Prismatic and Design Dance.

Primary Responsibilities

Digital Marketing & Publicity

  • Interacting with our customer community via all social media platforms

  • Supporting our marketing and content teams

  • Reaching out to new potential partners via email and social media

  • Assisting in content strategy planning

  • Creating social media assets

  • Writing copy for email and web

  • Researching media contacts and updating current media outreach lists

Product Development

  • Assisting with logistics for video and photoshoots

Supporting Operations

  • Ordering supplies, tracking inventory, and assisting our team in packaging new orders

  • Updating and assembling various reporting and data sheets

In addition, the Marketing and Product Assistant may be asked to assist with the following as needed:

  • Helping with scheduling and other basic admin tasks

  • Assisting in securing supplies and food donors for fundraising events

  • Event planning and management for performances

  • Assisting with volunteer and staff coordination for youth education events and performances

  • Assisting in gathering assets for monthly newsletters and interviews  


Qualifications

  • Passion and enthusiasm for and youth development, startups.

  • Kindness, sense of humor, and a positive, can-do attitude. (Belief that no task is too small!)

  • Extreme attention to detail and organization—if you color-code your bullet journal, we’re looking for you!

  • An eye for design and an appreciation for aesthetics

  • Confidence to take initiative and tackle any project

  • Efficiency in multitasking and prioritizing numerous requests, both immediate and ongoing

  • Stellar email manner and communication skills

  • Confidence in grammar skills

  • Knowledge of Google Docs and Sheets

  • Experience with social media reporting tools is a plus

  • Knowledge of Canva preferred

  • Knowledge of Squarespace preferred
